Epsilyte Buys StyroChem Canada

06.10.2021 - Epsilyte Holdings, a leading North American producer of advanced materials used in construction, packaging and safety equipment, has acquired StyroChem, a Canadian expandable polystyrene (EPS) manufacturer, from PMC Capital Partners, which has owned the business since August 2019. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition, said Epsilyte, creates one of North America’s largest producers of EPS, with three production sites and more than 300 employees. StyroChem brings a production site in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

“Our advanced materials are already key enablers of carbon neutrality due to their almost unmatched insulative properties. This acquisition further strengthens our ability to enhance our portfolio through StyroChem’s unique and efficient operational technology enabling us to better serve customers with more sustainable products and true value creation,” said Brad Crocker, Epsilyte’s president and CEO.

Epsilyte is owned by Balmoral Funds and management. The firm was created in September 2020 after Balmoral Funds bought the EPS business of Flint Hills Resources through a management buyout led by Crocker.
