Advanced Biochemical (Thailand), ABT, has increased capacity for bio-based epichlorohydrin (ECH) at its plant in Map Ta Phut, Thailand by 20,000 t/y to 120,000 t/y.

The company said the additional output capability was achieved through improvements in process efficiency and optimization of production. Also, thanks to optimized recycling technology, less waste is now being produced at the plant, it said.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Vinythai, ABT has produced its bio-based ECH at its state of the art Map Ta Phut facility since 2012 using a patented technology based on natural and renewable glycerine in place of fossil fuel derivative propylene.

The Thai producer touts the bio-based product, certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) since 2015, as “the world’s most sustainable ECH.”
