Schirm USA, a subsidiary of Schirm in Germany, has appointed Chad Kern (48) as chief executive officer (CEO), effective Aug. 1, 2019. He succeeds Gus Jones, who will retire in September.

Kern holds a BS in agriculture from Southern Illinois University and has worked in the chemical industry for 20 years. He joined Schirm more than 11 years ago and held various positions in purchasing, EH&S, as lead engineer and facility construction manager. In his most recent role he served as director of manufacturing.

In a separate news, Schönebeck, Germany-headquartered Schirm announced the appointment of Trevor Roberts (43) as chief operating officer (COO), effective Jul. 3, 2019.

In his position, Roberts will support the management team of Dirk Unterstenhöfer (CEO) and Alfred Ludorf (CFO) in the operating business and also take over the complete responsibility for all four Schirm business locations in Germany.

Before joining Schirm, Roberts held various management positions at Schirm’s parent company, the South African AECI Group, most recently as chief procurement officer.
