Evonik has combined its isophorone chemistry and epoxy curing agents businesses into a newly formed Crosslinkers division with effect from Jul. 1.

“Combining both businesses to one new unit gives Evonik the chance to offer a variety of products for epoxy and polyurethane applications under one roof now – be it basic amines, isocyanate monomers, polyisocyanates or formulated epoxy hardeners,” explained Claus Rettig, chairman of the board of management at Evonik Resource Efficiency.

Head of the Crosslinkers business, Min Chong, added that it is interested in developing next-generation product solutions with customers and the broad technology platform would serve as a base for further growth and collaboration.

Evonik gained Air Products’ epoxy curing agents business when it bought the US firm’s performance specialty additives division in January this year. The curing agents were the division’s largest business, accounting for about 40% of sales.

The Crosslinkers business is now part of Evonik’s Resource Efficiency segment, which generated sales of €4.5 billion in 2016.
