CSA Group, a leading Canadian global provider of testing and certification services and a standards development organization, has opened its first chemical testing lab for Product Evaluation (PE) in Shanghai. The new lab will perform toxicity and chemical composition tests and evaluations for Chinese manufacturers exporting products to North America and Europe.

"Our new chemical lab will provide product evaluations before they are exported to North America and Europe, assisting manufacturers to meet the requirements of global markets and, at the same time, helping to make sure the products are safer for consumers," said Adam Davies, director of consumer product evaluation at CSA.  

The new lab is said to have cutting-edge equipment capable of testing heavy metal content and other chemical components in consumer products to help clients meet requirements including CPSIA, TPCH, CFR1303, California's Proposition 65 and RoHS. The company's clients in Shanghai include major retailers and buyers in North America and manufacturers in China that export to global markets.

CSA opened its Consumer Product Evaluation Centre in Shanghai in 2012. It provides services including product specification, product evaluation, product and factory capacity evaluation and data analysis. These include the entire product life cycle, and cover presales evaluations, factory evaluations, shipment inspections and product comparisons.
