Oxy Subsidiary Pays EPA Fine of $153,000

01.10.2015 -

Indspec Chemical Company, a subsidiary of Houston-based Occidental Petroleum, has agreed to pay $153,100 in fines to settle accounts with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over emissions from the company’s Petrolia facility in western Pennsylvania.

The EPA and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection alleged that Indspec failed to monitor unspecified hazardous air pollutants. The company denied liability, but agreed to pay the penalties under a consent decree.

A final agreement must go through a 30-day public review process and be approved by a US district court judge.
