DKSH, a Market Expansion Services Group with a focus on Asia, and Wacker, the Munich-based chemical company have entered into a strategic regional partnership covering the whole of South East Asia, Greater China, and parts of the Indian subcontinent.

The specialty chemicals distributor's Business Unit Performance Materials will market Wacker's Biosolutions products: fermenter cysteine and bioengineered cyclodextrins, which are premium sugar compounds marketed under the Cavasol and Cavamax trademarks. The new regional agreement covers the whole of South East Asia, Greater China and parts of the India subcontinent, specifically India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Wacker produces vegetarian cystine and cysteine using advanced biotechnology processes. The cysteine is purely vegetarian without any human or animal origin, hence ideally suitable for food applications such as bakery products or flavors. Moreover, it is also used in personal care products. Applications for cyclodextrins range from food and dietary supplement to personal care products.
