Boehringer to Buy Rest of Japan's SSP

10.02.2010 -

German drug company Boehringer Ingelheim is in talks to make Japanese subsidiary SSP wholly-owned in a deal worth more than $335 million, the Nikkei newspaper reported. Boehringer currently owns 60% of SSP, a maker of over-the-counter drugs. Boehringer is expected to buy the remaining stake in a tender offer as early as the end of this month, the Nikkei said. Tetsuya Owari, a spokesman for Boehringer in Japan, said nothing had been decided. He declined to elaborate.
